How do you feel about To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee after reading the first 11 chapters? How motivated are you to continue reading this text?

  1. I feel this is a challenging book for many students. When I was a student, this book was taught in 8th grade. As curriculum was "dumbed down," this book was used with freshman and sophomores. With the rollout of the Common Core, this novel was returned as an anchor text for 8th grade. With that said, I do think it's a tough read, but manageable if students are committed. At this point, I believe about half the student are taking it seriously...I hope with the blog, more will be motivated to read. I am excited to see what you think of part 2...good stuff to come!

I feel interested about reading the first 11 chapters because when I first started reading To Kill A Mockingbird it was boring, but then after the first chapter I start enjoying the book. Like Boo Radley, Attitus being a nigger-lover, and Jem growing up & ignoring Scout. I am very motivated to keep reading the book because after reading more chapters it's getting more better.

  16. How i feel about the first 11 chapters is that they each get more interesting than the last. For example chapter 2 was better than chapter 1 and chapter 3 was better than 2. i think this goes on and on. at least thats how it is now. i enjoyed chapter 8-11 the most though, i enjoyed them the most because we find deeper thoughts about people who we thought were evil at the begging of the text. one of those characters were boo. i also think 1 of those characters are ms.dubose. The first 11 chapters serve as motivation so i am fully dedicated to keep reading more.

  17. i feel that the book is okay and have a few challenges for me which is understanding the main idea of the chapter because there are too many details that are boring and some are interesting but ive learn that the author Harper Lee wanted to add all them details to the book to make us feel like we are there. I've also Learn to forgive people why they are alive not when they die by Atticus

  18. How I feel about To Kill A Mockingbird so far is I am totally fascinated by the book. Mostly because of Boo Radley that's where most of my fascination and interest lies. I am very motivated to continue reading. I was not as motivated to continue reading in the beginning chapters as I am now. I am ready to learn more about Tom (the nigger Atticus is defending).
